Tropical breezes enhance the dining experience at La Vela, a three-level canopied restaurant that is known for its seafood preparations. Live piano music entertains daily in the lobby bar while La Huerta serves Mexican specialties and casual fare. The hotel's business center includes computers and high-speed Internet access. A health-and-beauty spa offers massages, hydrotherapy, body scrubs and wraps. Men's and women's sections include steam rooms, pressure showers and hydro-reflexology tubs, and spa beauty salon offers hair and nail care. An air-conditioned fitness room contains cardio and weight machines. Three pool decks lie above the bay. The upper-level pool features a children's section. Middle and lower decks offer freeform pools with waterfalls. From the lower deck, a staircase leads to a private beach flanked by boulders and lapped by calm, transparent water. Children, ages four through 11, can participate in complimentary, supervised activities during summers, major holidays and most weekends.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. I and my guests suffered from food poisioning on 5 occasions from the room service. Not only was the food rotten, but it was very expensive. The food was old.

Cockroaches were seen in the restaurant and in the rooms. I wanted to look into the kitchen after the third bout with food poisioning but did not.

The administration is very agressive and obnoxious. If your balance is over $500 US they constantly harrass you and deny you access to your room or the ability to even go in the elevator.

Then when the Barranquilla Carnaval started, they removed the corporate paying guests to make room for the tourists. So they put us on the streets during the Carnaval for higher paying guests and the city was at 100% capacity.

I must admit however I was very happy to get out of that hotel.

The only woods utilized for the decoration are Mahogany and erable (Clear wood), faithful exponents of the period of Art Decó.

In the entrance the Couple of Tango stand outs, the most imposing mural made in carved crystal, in the city of Buenos Aires . It was made by the artist Mirta Kupferminc, it weighs around 320 kilograms and its crystals were engraved by the artist Alberto Sussel.

On the other hand, the pictures dedicated are emphasized master Astor Piazzolla created by the artist Carlos Monzani. Different works of art sculpture and photography related to culture of Buenos Aires are exhibited in every room of the hotel.
